About Aurélie Desmas

It all started when...

Aurélie Desmas was about five years old and discovered the sheer joy of moving her furniture around her bedroom in Brittany, France. She carried this habit with her as she made numerous moves to Paris, London and New York, where she decided to take interior design more seriously at the Fashion Institute of Technology, Parsons School of Design, the New York Interior Design School and the New York School of Feng Shui. She has now decided to take her practice to her new country, Estonia, in the city of Pärnu, where the sea can once again be her inspiration.

As a designer, Aurélie’s approach is based on finding the soul of a space and aligning it with her clients’ needs for a cohesive aesthetic. Her personal belief in preserving the planet guarantees a design that will be both timeless and soulful: connecting past and future using period pieces and new finds in a balanced mix of textures and colours. 

Her service covers everything a client could wish for: from conception and design to ordering and installation. As part of her commitment to green living, she sources custom pieces locally where possible and is open to working with any preferred brands or contacts her clients may have.

Aurélie holds a degree in digital photography as well as interior design and architecture. While studying in New York, she worked as the assistant to AD100 designer Billy Cotton, volunteered as set designer for the French-speaking theatre group Atelier Théâtre for four years, and worked on various projects around the city with the Fashion Institute of Technology. She also taught middle schoolers aged 12–14 how to draw for interior spaces over the course of several summers. She is also a certified Kundalini Yoga instructor, enthusiastic ceramic maker, accomplished baker and proud mother of a 2-year-old.
